Thank you to the outpouring of love, prayers, good vibes, encouraging words, and heartfelt stories today. I honestly wanted to blog what I’m going through to record my own thoughts and experiences for myself, but people have been blowing up my phone and FB. Just in the last 6 hours, I’ve had 546 readers on this blog post. Crazy!

For the past 6-7 weeks I’ve had a cough that wouldn’t go away. I noticed it when I was in SF for a wedding and figured it was the dry air. When I got home, I scheduled a doctor appointment because my lungs were hurting from the non stop coughing.

I can’t help but feel disappointed that I didn’t take anywhere near as many photos on my camera as I usually do. I think it’s a number of factors, of course we were only gone for a short trip but most of the time it was in Taipei, which is a big city like Tokyo, or Bangkok.

I feel super lucky that I was able to fit in another trip out to Asia this year. About a month ago, I was groaning about studying for finals.

It took about 34 hours from leaving the hostel to arriving to my doorstep in Minneapolis.

I sit at a desk all day and sometimes I tend to daydream and play around on google flights to look for the “best deal” to go anywhere for any amount of time. It was April, Joanna was finally graduating dental school in a few weeks and was lining up job interviews.

It’s been a REALLY long day. Couldn’t sleep last night because I was so excited to getting started on the trip. I only got about an hour and a half of sleep and by 1:30am, I was wide awake.

I’m really excited to be doing another Asia trip and have been looking forward to doing this for quite some time. I was in Japan in 2015 with my siblings and had such a great trip I felt like there was too much to cram into one vacation.

The past two weeks before the trip I’ve been putting a packing list together making sure I being the essentials like duct tape. I have been however waiting eagerly for that moment at the airport or on the plane where I immediately realize something that I forgot at home.
