This is always the hardest post to write because I have to acknowledge that the trip is over and piling responsibilities back home take over. The night before was our last meal in Japan. Joanna said let’s close it out with a bang and get Okonomiyaki one last time.

Sooooo did anyone else experience a once in a generation global pandemic that put life on hold for a chunk of time?

It’s now been over a year since I’ve been declared with No Evidence of Disease (NED)! After my, for lack of a better word “anniversary” I’ve had a lot of things swirling in my head and I’ve been a little hesitant on sitting down and putting them down because I didn’t want to come off as braggadocious, but I think that with everyone that’s supported me and my family up to this point getting a happy update would be nice to share.

I’m happy to say that I started at work again this week! It feels so good to be back to a normal life. Everyone has been telling me how happy they are to see me and that that they’re glad I’m at work again.

Since I moved out of my parent’s house in December, I’ve been putting about 4-6 hours a day towards studying for my project management certification.

For the last 3 weeks, we’ve had to go down to Rochester on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule for my dad to get his radiation therapy.

A lot of little things have happened since the last time I’ve blogged. During my recovery period up to about the end of November, I got a little frustrated with trying to come up with blog worthy content so I took a short break to just let stuff happen and take it all in before regurgitating it out right away.

I’ve said this before in the past and I’ll keep saying it, having cancer is both inconvenient and boring. I don’t recommend anyone get it, even a little bit.

I’ve been home for about 2 weeks now and recovery is moving at a very slow pace. It definitely feels different than when I was recovering from chemotherapy.

The daytime shift on Saturday felt that I needed to be weaned off hospital pain measures and start relying on oral medication like Oxy Tylenol, and Ibuprofen so that I could be released by Monday at the earliest.
