We were a bit knackered from traveling yesterday but I was chuffed that we finally made it to London. We left the flat in the morning and BLIMEY it was nippy.
Only been here a day and I’m already talking like a local!
I started putting together this trip idea back in February as Joanna’s work prefers to get a 6 month notice for PTO as she works with patients. In July, I had the realization that since we were spending time in France, we should make reservation at a Michelin star restaurant.
Because we got to the Louvre on a busy Saturday we didn’t get an opportunity to get some pictures taken in one of the most iconic places in Paris so we made a plan to get up at sunrise to walk over before the museum opened to get some pictures.
One of the best travel days I’ve ever had in my life was 5 years ago when I went to a Japanese hot spring town in Japan. It was a few hours north of Tokyo in the mountains where volcanic hot spring water comes out of the ground and hotels (ryokans) have existed since 700 AD catering to traders and samurai who traveled there seeking rest and rejuvenation.
The plan today was to go spend a few hours at the Louvre/Loo-vre museum in between the food places we came across as we wandered the streets.
Overall the flight to Paris was super smooth. Usually on longer haul trips I’ll watch at least two movies but I was busy with working on this blog and learning Japanese for our eventual return to the country (more on this in a separate post).
Sooooo did anyone else experience a once in a generation global pandemic that put life on hold for a chunk of time?
