It’s been bugging me the past few days that I haven’t switched to WordPress since that’s what I worked on while I was at Westwerk. Today’s my rest day before my GMAT tomorrow so I had some time to set up a new WP blog which I’m hoping provides a little bit more flexibility and functionality that Blogger couldn’t do. Also people have been asking me what I was going to title my blog. I’m kind of proud of myself for coming up with this one because it works on so many levels – Japan Trip 007: Because we’re going to Bond. Also if you flip 007 it spells Loo. Get it?…it’s funny because…yah
I am so pumped to get started on this trip, unfortunately Speedy can’t come with but I will be bringing Donald with me. Joanna gave me a little toy Donald Duck to bring on my trips because she wasn’t able to go and it’s been a fun project to take pictures of him on our adventures. Here’s a few pics of him in Thailand, on the Great Wall, and in The Philippines.
So lesson learned again about playing it by ear when it comes to hostels. About 2 weeks ago, I had everything booked ahead of time except for our last few nights when we get back to Tokyo. I thought that we could just book them when we got to the hostel otherwise we could check out another place. I just checked like 3 days ago and it was booked solid for when we get back so I had to frantically find another place to stay. I did not realize August was prime traveling season for people in Japan. Thankfully a brand new hostel literally opened up last week and didn’t have any bookings yet. Check out their photos, the place looks beautiful:https://www.facebook.com/khaosansamuraicapsule/photos_stream?fref=photo
On my last blog post, I briefly mentioned the JR Pass which is what we’re using to get on the shinkansen bullet trains. I booked our tickets through a French company and I received the passes within 24 hours. It even came with a handy map and booklet that outlines all of the trains and even has travel tips on train etiquette. Here’s their site: https://www.japan-rail-pass.com/
Just 4 more days to go. I tell myself every time that I’m going to pack light and end up with more than I need by the end of it. This time I’m only packing 7 days worth of clothes and a small bottle of Tide so I can wash my clothes while we’re there. I bought a rubix cube on Amazon this week. We have roughly 47 hours of train/plane travel and I need something to keep busy with so I figured it would be a cool thing to learn how to solve. Also I was at Caribou yesterday and was tempted in picking up a travel spirograph :p
