About Me
Thanks for checking out my travel blog! I’m Andrew, we probably know each other from school, work, or just life in general. To tell you a little bit about myself, I’m doing a part-time masters program at the University of Minnesota and I work full time as a project manager. What keeps me sane is my huge passion for travel. It started when I did a study abroad to the Beijing Language Culture University in Beijing, China in 2008 right before the Olympics. I met some really awesome people from all over the world who I still keep in touch with.
As a kid I’ve visited family in Hong Kong and Panama but this was the first time I was away from home on my own. I started my first blog and bought a DLSR camera to document and share my study abroad experience in China. Since then, I’ve gone to 11 different countries (some more than once) blogging each of those adventures.
There’s a few reasons why I blog:
- The blog is a catalyst for all things creative. I’m not a great book learner where I read through a book cover to cover then apply that knowledge. This has been a great way for me to be hands on learning photography, shooting and editing video, web design, and writing on the go.
- When I come back from a trip people will ask how the trip was and a few follow up questions after that. By sharing the blog I can provide specific details, pictures, and stories that can’t be summed up by answering “What was the best thing on the trip?”.
- I wouldn’t have nearly as much success as I have without the help and shared experience from friends who have been to the places I plan on going to. Through blogging, I’m able to give advice and help other people plan their trips which is a ton of fun for me.
I try to travel as cheap as possible staying in hostels and eating cheap and dirty street food. Over the years my list of places I want to visit keeps growing.
Over time I’ll be porting over all my old blog posts to this main site. I’m a total amateur at all of this stuff so please feel free to share any feedback or questions you might have and thanks again for joining me on my adventures!
