Today was our travel day out of Kyoto and further into the more rural part of Japan. We had a 2 hour shinkansen ride and then an hour bus to Lake Kawaguchiko, an area to the foot of Mt. Fuji. I was anxious about whether we’d have good weather where we were staying so we could get a clear view.

Food is always priority so Joanna and I got a bento box for the train ride. I am always impressed with how accurate the wax food displays are with what we get. Joanna’s box had a pull string which activates the heating element so she would get a warmed up meal in 5 minutes.

While on the train I got some blogging done and half of my Japanese hw for the next class, really needed a nap but I keep falling behind on stuff because I just don’t have the same amount of down time that I usually do on trips.

On the bus ride to Kawaguchiko, I checked google maps to see what the direction Mt. Fuji was in. This was the view out the window :/

Become sent me an instagram account @is_fuji_visible_today of a user who posts several times a day the status of Mt. Fuji’s visibility and weather reports. Their most recent update was that the clouds should clear later in the afternoon.

We checked into our hotel room and yep, the IG account was right!

Become and Yolanda spent the week back in Tokyo and took their own bus to meet us here to hang out for a few days. Instead of taking a break and resting, I wanted to take advantage of the good weather and get all our photos in. The famous Lawsons was SO packed with tourists but we got a few pics that were just meh. This random empty parking lot further up the road ended up being a better photo spot.
