Nothing really eventful happened yesterday. We caught our plane to Shanghai from Beijing and arrived around 5. Riding the subway to our hostel’s stop took FOREVER, probably a 1.5 hr train ride. I’m not sure if there’s just more stops here or that the trains are slower than in Beijing.
We’re staying at the Rock and Wood International Youth Hostel and it is much nicer than the last hostel in Beijing and for the same price. Place is cleaner, the room is actually warm, and it just looks nicer overall. The internet is super crazy slow though. I spent the flight cropping and resizing about 300 photos and was hoping to upload them when we got here but I’ll have to wait until we get to Seoul on Thursday to do so.
The guy at the front desk suggested a place around the corner for pork dumplings, Xiao Long Bao, which are what Shanghai is known for.
We got 2 orders for only 12RMB which is crazy cheap. I’ve never had ones taste so good back in Minneapolis so I’m going to get my fill while we’re here.
The only plans we have so far are to go to hang out with a few friends over the two days that we’re in Shanghai and eat more dumplings.
